Terms of service
What this service is, what it is not, and the rules for using it.
What this is
Twitch VODs is an independent archive and player for Twitch stream replays — including sub-only broadcasts and VODs Twitch has already expired. It finds a broadcast from Twitch’s own public metadata, plays it, and shows the chat that went with it.
Twitch deletes most broadcasts within one to two months of the stream — seven days for a great many channels. The point of this site is that a replay stays findable after that, which is the one thing Twitch itself does not offer.
Where the video comes from
Today, every stream you watch here is delivered by Twitch’s own content network. This site reconstructs the public address of a broadcast; the bytes come from Twitch, exactly as they would on twitch.tv. So when Twitch removes a broadcast it stops playing here at the same moment.
If that ever changes — if a copy of a broadcast is kept here so it survives the deletion — it will be said on this page before it happens, not after. See Changes below.
What this site keeps
Independently of the video, some material about a broadcast is stored here so it outlives Twitch’s deletion: its title, channel, category, duration and dates, its thumbnail, and the chat transcript. For a great many streams this is the only surviving record that the broadcast happened at all.
Chat transcripts contain messages other people wrote. They are shown as they were sent, alongside the replay they belong to and nowhere else. If you wrote something in a Twitch chat and you want it removed from a transcript here, write to contact@twitchvods.app.
Advertising
This site may display advertising. There is none running today, and there has never been any pre-roll, mid-roll or interruption of a replay — that is a commitment, not a description, and it is the one promise about advertising made anywhere on this site.
Not affiliated with Twitch
This is not a Twitch or Amazon product, is not endorsed by them, and is not connected to them in any way. Twitch is a trademark of its owner and is used here only to say what the site is for.
Content belongs to its creators
Broadcasts, chat messages, emotes, thumbnails and channel artwork belong to the streamers, their viewers and Twitch. Nothing here transfers any right in them to you or to us — and keeping a copy of a thumbnail or a chat transcript so it survives a deletion does not make it ours either. Watching a replay here does not give you permission to re-upload, redistribute or monetise it.
Takedowns
If you are a rights holder — a streamer, or someone acting for one — and you want a broadcast to stop being reachable through this site, write to contact@twitchvods.app with the VOD or channel address and a statement of your interest in it. That covers anything kept here about it — the entry, the thumbnail and the chat transcript — not only the link. Requests are honoured promptly; no takedown here has ever needed a lawyer, and none should.
Using the site
- Use it as a person browsing, not as a pipeline. Automated scraping, bulk downloading and anything designed to work around the rate limits are not permitted.
- Do not use it to redistribute someone else’s broadcast, or to build a mirror of it.
- Do not attempt to reach parts of the site you are not signed in for, or to interfere with its availability for other people.
- Respect Twitch’s own terms while you are here. This site is a different front door to the same content, not an exemption from them.
Accounts
An account is optional and exists so that your history and favourites follow you between devices. You are responsible for what happens under yours. An account may be suspended without notice for the behaviour described above; suspension ends access, and the underlying data is handled as the privacy policy describes.
No warranty
The site is provided as it is, with no guarantee that it will work, stay available, or keep playing any particular broadcast. It depends entirely on services it does not control, and those services change without warning. It is free, it is run by one person, and it may stop at any time. To the fullest extent the law allows, no liability is accepted for any loss arising from using it.
Changes
These terms may change; the date at the foot of this page moves when they do. Continuing to use the site after that date means the current version applies.
Three changes would materially alter what this service is: keeping copies of the video itself, charging money for any part of it, or running advertising where there is none today. Each of those gets its own plainly-worded section here before it is switched on, not in a diff afterwards.
